THE DRAGON’S CURSE – ORIENTAL EXIT ROOM CRACOW IN GAMESCAPE
You haven’t been in a room like this before! How do we know that? Because we are the first in Poland to open an escape room inspired by Eastern folklore and Chinese legends.
The Dragon’s Curse is a room where we transport you back in time – through Gamescape Cracow you enter a world where ancient spirits need your help.
We won’t reveal anything more about the room – after all, a true Hero should be prepared for anything – but we do have for you an introduction to the world of Chinese legends, which you will definitely find useful before facing the Dragon’s Curse.
But do you know where this tradition originated? Let’s start with the fact that the animals of the Chinese zodiac are not random creatures.
According to legend, the Jade Emperor invited the animals to a race, and the first twelve who managed to complete it as a reward became patrons. Each new year marks a new patron, starting with the Rat, who finished the race first and ending with the Pig, the twelfth. Thus were also created the signs of the Chinese zodiac, which depend on the year of birth.
THE HISTORY OF THIS RACE IS VERY PERVERSE
– The Rat, for example, sneakily climbed on the back of the Ox. In this way, the rodent easily got across the river and overtook his companion just before the finish line. In a similar manner, the Snake outsmarted the Horse, slipping out from under its armor at the last moment and using its momentary advantage, finished the race. Pig took the challenge the least seriously, taking a nap along the way – which is why he is twelfth in the order.
The dragon itself, on the other hand, may be one of the most interesting animals in Chinese folklore. Dragons present in Chinese mythology are, counterintuitively, associated with water – they wield rain and can manifest as water whirlpools, or tornadoes. There are also legends of four Dragon Kings ruling the four seas around China. An interesting detail in the representation of the Dragon in Chinese folklore is the number of its fingers – to clarify an inaccuracy in representation, a legend arose about dragons who lost their fingers on their travels. The farther away from their native China they ventured, the fewer fingers they had left.
