CHINESE YEAR OF THE RABBIT

CHINESE YEAR OF THE RABBIT

Although the year 2023 is in a full swing in Europe, China just welcame it. Also known as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is always celebrated between January 21 and February 20. This year’s celebrations took place on January 22 and introduced the Chinese Year of the Water Rabbit.

PRACTICES AND WHAT TO KNOW

The Chinese Year doesn’t last 365 or 366 calendar days, like in our country. That is because it follows the lunar calendar – hence its moving date. The upcoming Chinese year will begin on January 22, 2023, and is going to last until February 9, 2024. The ceremonies themselves last about 15 days, although some of them begin several weeks earlier. Some of the more popular traditional practices include red envelopes, the dragon dance, and the mandarin tree. In many regions, red envelopes with money are distributed during Chinese New Year and are believed to bring good luck and protect against evil. The color red itself symbolizes joy and wealth, and hidden money is thought to bring good luck in the new year. The Dragon Dance is probably known all over the world. A group of people dressed as dragons and lions perform special choreography. The dance is considered a symbol of luck and abundance, and also wards off evil spirits. In some regions, it is considered the most important New Year’s ritual and sometimes lasts for several days. The last tradition is the mandarin tree, which can be found in many homes during holiday celebrations. The tree is a sign of friendship and benevolence, and its possession will bring happiness and prosperity to all residents. They are often decorated with red ribbons and placed on tables with other symbols such as gold coins or animal zodiac figures.

CHINESE YEAR OF THE WATER RABBIT

Zodiac animals are always the main focus point of the Chinese New Year. They symbolize different aspects of human character and destiny. It is believed that their symbolism can influence a person’s future. People wear clothes or decorate their homes with elements depicting the particular zodiac animal that guards the year. The Water Rabbit is a sign tied to 2023. The Chinese Rabbit loves routine, so it’s a salvation for people tired of new challenges. Despite the search for a path to inner peace, the coming year will not be boring. The energy of the Rabbit will allow you to explore your inner self, help with self-development, self-discipline, and will be conducive to the pursuit of the goals you have set for yourself. It will be the perfect year to fulfill any resolutions!
